Vantris VUR is the latest breakthrough for endoscopic treatment of VUR.
The procedure is very simple and it consists in injecting a gel in the junction of the bladder with the ureter.
The substance that is injected is biocompatible and of synthetic origin (polyacrylate/polyalcohol copolymer). Since it is antiallergenic, it ensures safety. The substance is surrounded by tissue and it remains stable over time, providing a long term solution for VUR.
The aim of injecting Vantris VUR into the junction where the bladder connects with the ureters is to produce a bulking to reverse the reflux, thus preventing the passage of urine back to the ureters and kidneys.
With Vantris VUR, the VUR is immediately and definitively corrected, with no complications in the long or short term, allowing children to return to their usual activities on the same day.
The endoscopic injection of Vantris VUR is recommended for children over one year of age with persistent VUR, after a treatment with antibiotics for 12 months or more. This is the recommended option as an alternative to a surgery and it may be used with all VUR grades.

Learn more about Vesicouretral Reflux in Children»
Vantris VUR is a biocompatible, non-absorbable, synthetic tissue bulking agent for the endoscopic treatment of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children. It is a hydrogel made of stable, highly deformable macroparticles resistant to migration that may be extruded with 23-gauge needles.
Vantris VUR is a substance consisting of polyacrylate/polyalcohol copolymer (PPC) particles immersed in a 40% glycerol solution carrier.
In children with VUR, this hydrogel is injected in the ureterovesical junction. By means of a very simple and minimally invasive endoscopic procedure, this gel corrects the anatomy of the ureterovesical junction, preventing urine from flowing back from the bladder towards the kidneys.
Unlike other options, Vantris VUR solves VUR definitively. Once implanted, Vantris VUR particles increase the volume of the tissue, generating a minimal fibrotic growth around them: 70 microns thick.
Treatment with Vantris VUR is recommended for children over one year of age and may be suitable for all VUR grades.
